Ok, I can't believe that you who have contacted me actually remember my nickname!
Who remembers why I was called 'Sarava'? and what was my other nickname? Please remember this is a public forum...if you want, save it for the reunion. I will understand.
What were some other infamous cadet nicknames you remember?
What about "Nads" for Dennis Aqualina and "Ott" for Bonnie Highfield?... actually it was "Body Ott" after the Devils Melophone player. Nads was short for Gonads, as I recall. Can't imagine why. Also there was a silk named Renee that was "Hollywood".
"Oh Bumble Bee... Oh Bumble Bee... Your sneakers are.... too bright for me." Bob Philhower taught marching in 76 but I'm not sure if he ever marched. He was Panessa's friend from earlier so maybe in the 60's. Vietnam vet... had a throwing tomohawk in his trunk, ring any bells? Still never seen sneakers that color anywhere else.
OMG, how could I forget this one- "The Twin Towers"! One of them, I can't remember which, carried my horn for the "I Don't Know How To Love Him" finale.
Were they actually twins? The tallest Contra that year was probably Mike "Quinlan" That's not his last name but he was always sleeping on the bus. Especially when it was time for the girls to change. As for the tall sop, you're not talking about Pete Ludgate (Luddy... and sister Lady Luddy) are you?
We're forgetting "The Ozone Layer". Wendy and somebody and somebody else from the NY Horizons. They came with Sgamatto, Delillo and the Gary sopranos. I think that's the only triple person nickname I've ever heard of. I think it was an altitude reference, there wasn't much evidence of "depletion" as I remember.
The Twin Towers marched in 78 two really tall guys...cannot remember their names..anyone?
The Ozone Sisters, yes there were three of them...all keep in touch with Frank. I only know Wendy, Marianne is an Exec at NBC, not sure who the third one was, I didn't march in 77.
