Hey Gary, it's been a long time, hasn't it. Love those pics you posted, I look like a terrorist in that one though. Still in Pa I see. I'm still in NJ, but haven't done much drum corps in the last ten years. I did do 30 years though as a member/staff/admistration for the Cadets. Just got done doing 8 years of winter guard and HS band with my daughter. Sent her off to college a month ago. Nice to seea anf hear from you.
Hi Gary,
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I think that is one of the nicest compliments I have ever received!! It was a tough year but I wouldn't have thought about marching anywhere else but the Cadets. Between the Plebes and the Cadets, I marched for 12 years. It was a very sad day in August of 1981 when I aged out!
I still live in Cedar Grove with my husband Mike and my daughters Katie (12) and Kimberly (10). For the past 8 years I have been teaching 3 and 4 years olds at a nursery school in town.
Hope all is well with you too!

Remember our long drives to PA to meet the corps on tour in the Prelude?? What sunglasses are you talking about?? Send me pics, I must remember! Where are you now? I'm in Cincinnati. Sending my daughter, Morgan, off to college next week. Time flies.
Keep in touch. My e-mail address is rlnamian@cinci.rr.com. Would be great to catch up.
Miss all the wonderful guard ladies who fought thru the 1979 season.
I was working in Easton, PA. and received a call from the Assistant Super of personnel for Bergenfield School District. He was also the head of DCI. Yep, Mr. Angelica. He said he needed a guard person for a local corps, and would give me a job as a "teacher" at the high school to make some money during off season. I almost fell over when he said the corp was The Cadets.
Working at Bergenfield was quite the experience. All wealthy folks lived in the area, kids had the best of everything. Band was huge, and the one band director was Frank Levy, who retired to California in 2002. I say one because the band program was so successful, they had four directors! Mr. Levy was also a DCI horn judge. So you can imagine the visitors we used to have roaming the hallways. All these famous (to me) horn instructors from the DCI corps were in the hallways where I worked, it was surreal at times!
As a result of my time as a Reading Buccaneer and a Cadet, I was blessed to be able to make a long career out of teaching at different levels. It has been a few years since I taught, the last corps being the New York Skyliners.

FYI Donald was Asst. Supt. for Personnel; not THE Supt. of Schools.
