I started marching in the Secaucus Meadowlarks in 1966.I started as a drummer, but after 1 or 2 rehearsals it was suggested that I try for the horn line because my hands were too small to hold onto the sticks. In Oct of 1971, as a twelve year old , my parents took me to an Open House for the Garfield Cadets that was held at the Boys Club. I had no idea what to expect.
Little did I know how that day would effect me for the rest of my life. I spent the next 9 years marching with the corps. I have been able to forge friendships that have lasted 30 + years.
I aged out in 1980 as horn sargent and spent the next 2 years with the L.I. Sunrisers and after that I marched with the Bushwhackers until 1985
Hey Joe! Are you coming to the Holiday Bash at the VFW on December 5th? Hosted by the Original Girl Guard. DJ, buffet, lots of fun!!!! Let me know so I can add your name to the list.
Hi Joe
Were you at the 75th? I hope I didnt miss you. So little time , so many to see. How are you? I wasn't going to come up from Florida but so glad I did. Hope to hear from you

Thanks for the kind words - look out for my photos, you seem to figure into a lot of them.
One other thing I have that may be fun is a practice cassette I pinched from one of our practices probably in May 1978. I remastered it and cut it back to back with the 1978 DCI prelims recording I have on vinyl - anyone want to hear that?
How have you been ? good to see that smiling face after all these years ! Are you going to Bash at Montclair on Aug. 1st or DCI East, if so look for each other.
We were all fortunate back then to have VFW, American Legion, and Catholic diocesan support extracurricular activities such as scouting and drum corps. As a youngster I lived in Passaic and went to St. Stephen's church and school. The only way I knew they had a junior drum corps was watching them practice on a side street. I don't know what ever happened to them. It's great to learn something new every day. If we knew everything, life would be boring.
He's going to be inundated with friend requests. . . LOL!!!! Told everyone I knew that I found him. . . Sorry I missed Memorial Day -- looks like it was a great weekend -- I'll def make it to the August event! C ya!
