Saw my first Drum Corp show at Garfield HS in 1973, and was hooked. In 1975, along with my grammar school pals Karen Cinzio, and Karen Kopacz I joined the Plebes. In the fall of '76, graduated to the "big corp", marched in the flag line from 1977-79. After the '79 season, left drum corp to see "how the other half lived". While in the real world, met my husband of 24 years, became a registered nurse, bought a home and an RV. Still live in NJ. There's always been a part of me that missed drum corp-the endless practices in the heat, sleeping on buses ang gym floors, eating PBJ days in a row. But mostly I missed the pride of accomplishement, of wearing that uniform, being a part of history. The traveling was fun too, I think that's why we have an RV.
This is Cindi from the Original Girls Guard, 1969. I marched from '69 to '73.
