I started my drum corps career in 1964 when I joined the Paterson Lamplighters. During the winter of 1966, I joined the Little Falls Cadets playing soprano and marched in the winter color guard for the Fairlawn Cadets. At the age of 14, I joined the Garfield Cadets to play soprano and later became part of the mellophone section. My last two years in Garfield, I had the honor of being named drum major during the 1975 and 1976 seasons. After I aged out, I taught the corps during the 1977 season. After that season, I left to teach the Long Island Kingsmen, New York Skyliners, and a variety of high school bands. Today, I am still writing visual shows for marching bands and judging for the USSBA.
Professionally, I've been working for the Clifton Board of Education as a Special Education Teacher for the past 26 years. I truly owe my professional development to the Garfield Cadet Organization and the valuable lessons that were taught to each and everyone of us about responsibility and having a strong work ethic. I have worked with many talented people over the many years and 90% of them had something to do with the Cadets.
