I was born into a drum corps family, and early on, I knew that I wanted to be a part of this amazing activity. Started out with the Eatontown Royales ('76'-'78), then a brief stint with the Hawthorne Muchachos (late '78 - early '79), and finally with the Garfield Cadets ('79-'84). In '85, I replaced the West Point style uniform for one with the U.S.Air Force. Since leaving the military in '90, I have traveled across the country and learned alot about life and myself. I'm married now and have a son, and enjoying life beyond drum corps here in VA. -FHNSAB
Hey Kid
I will be at the 75th Diamond Bash and Giants Stadium. Stephen will be on visiting my Mom that weekend (and they will have my kids!). I told him about the reunion but he is not interested in going. I will get to visit him the Monday and Tuesday after the reunion. So will you be there too??
I'm surprised about Carolina Crown too. They beat the Cadets again last night and I know they've also beat Cavies last week. I hope Cadets can pull it together by the end of the season. They're usually good at adding some surprises as the season draws to a close. It seems like a lot of people are going to DCI East so I think me and April are going to wait and go down to Montclair on Saturday morning instead of Friday night. Doesn't make sense to get there Friday just to sit around by ourselves. I mean I love my sister, but...... lol Are you staying for the show on Sunday night or going home earlier in the day? I can't wait to see everyone. It's going to be great!!!
Hey Kid,
Thanks for your note. I won't be able to make it to the 75th celebration. Unfortunately I have a family reunion that same weekend. I will be at finals though. I hope all is well with you and your family.
Thanks for the kind words. I had a great time with the corps back then and feel blessed to have had a hand in their history and accomplishments. You guys where great!. Let me know if I can help you in any way.
I'm not going either. Me and April decided to spend Friday night in Montclair so we can hang out with anyone who arrives early for the reunion the next day. Haven't seen some of the people in so long want to spend as much time as possible with them.
Steve, the '68 Garfield Field Show plays when you click to my page. Included in our Alumni Corp repertoire is the Kings of Kings fanfare, American Salute (When Johnny Comes Marching Home), French National Defile and Besame Mucho. Check out the video on Youtube! FHNSAB
I'm so glad you're going to be at the reunion.....I know a lot of people will be excited to see you. We'll have to keep working on your brothers to get them to come. That would be awesome if the Cadets could win this year....especially since its the 75th anniversary. I'll also be at DCI's so if (when) they win I'll be there to see it!! LOL
Does that mean you're actually going to the reunion? That's great!! April and I have been trying to talk your brother Michael into coming too. All three of the Aleman boys should be there!! Everyone was asking about you guys last year.....the three of you were such an important part of the corps, it won't be the same without you guys.
